The ultimate Gold Coast bathroom renovation?
“We always dreamed of having a bathroom with big glass doors opening right onto the sand of a tropical beach,” said Burleigh Waters home-owner, Anne W. “In the end, we made our dream look real enough at least. Our tropical beach outlook is a digitally-produced image on the wall of what was once a narrow walkway at the side of our original bathroom, which originally only had a few high, narrow louvre-windows for light and ventilation. We closed-off each end of the walkway to make a narrow courtyard, then added the folding stacker-style glass doors to open the bathroom out onto the courtyard. When the sun hits the image on the courtyard wall and we open the wall of doors, it’s as if we’re in Fiji,” Anne said. “We made the bathroom larger by stealing space from a huge linen press that was against one wall, and from a hallway and external door on the other side that we didn’t need once we’d closed off the walkway and moved the bathroom door.”
The sculptural form of the Hampshire freestanding bath 1750 (by Olivia Ellen) takes centre stage in this open, airy bathroom space. The bath is filled by the tall and slender Samantha freestanding bath filler (by Banff).
Wall-mounted vanity units always make a bathroom appear more spacious. Here two Elite wall-mounted vanity cabinets with drawers (from WHO’s mix-and-match vanity range) are combined with a pair of shallow-depth above-bench basins and two Damien II basin mixers (by Banff), and the vanity area is further defined and enhanced by the 1800 x 900 wall mirror featuring fine polished edges (by Klarga, famous makers of high quality mirrors and shower screens). The contemporary wall-faced toilet suite is from the Jeffrey range (by William Douglas).
Adding to the beach-style atmosphere of this bathroom is the tiled floor which at first glance looks exactly like pale timber floorboards.
