Are you looking for a vanity basin or a washbasin?
I know what you must be thinking! ‘There are two kinds of basins?’ Yes, there are. Apart from the different styles of basins, there are two types of basins that have a clear difference, which is sure to help you make a more informed decision.
Vanity basins come with elongated sides to seamlessly fit in with the vanity benchtop while washbasins come as a separate piece of bathroom furniture that needs to be incorporated into the vanity. Vanity basins will always be mounted under the benchtop seamlessly, fitting the sides to the benchtop. Washbasins can be mounted in a few different ways.
If you’re looking for a basin to fit into your vanity benchtop because you don’t like the basin that came with it or you need to make a calculated decision on what to match with your vanity, you must choose from the options we have for vanity basins.
If you want to include a washbasin, first, make sure your vanity benchtop is made to hold a washbasin and not a vanity basin.
Choosing a vanity basin
The vanity basins at WHO Bathroom Warehouse come in three colours - white, black, and ice white.
Those with the black and ice white finish are by the brand Harry James, which is a brand that has warehouse-priced designer products for those who want a taste of luxury for a good price. And guess what? All Harry James vanity basins are on a discounted price for a limited time. Grab the offer while it lasts!
The vanity basins in our collection are made from three materials - glass, micro-crystal, and vitreous china. We recommend that you choose a glass vanity basin for a powder room or a guest bathroom as it needs careful care.
Choose either micro-crystal, which is crystalised glass that is more resistant to scratches, stains, corrosion, and discolouration, or vitreous china, which has an enamel coating applied over ceramic that makes the porcelain tougher, denser and shinier, for an en-suite or family bathroom.
Choose a washbasin for your bathroom or kitchen
Compared to vanity basins, washbasins are less expensive and at WHO Bathroom Warehouse, they are made with either high-quality vitreous china or high-quality polymarble.
Polymarble is a durable and solid material made with resin and a gel coating, which can easily be moulded into a variety of different shapes with highly detailed finishes. These basins are also hygienic and easy to clean.
Decide how you want to mount your washbasin and this will make it even more easier for you to choose one for your wash closet. We have washbasins that can be mounted in three different ways. These include:
- Benchtop mount:This type of washbasin is one of the most popular types we have to offer. They either sit completely on top of the benchtop or the rim of the basin sits on the benchtop while the rest of the basin sits below.
- Semi-recessed: This type of mount is ideal if you have limited space in your bathroom but want a bigger vanity with ample storage space.
- Under-mount This type of mount keeps your basin completely underneath the benchtop, creating the illusion that it could be a vanity basin. It’s ideal if you want to achieve a luxurious look - one that’s easy to clean and maintain too.
We also have two under-mount, stainless steel kitchen troughs, finished in edgy gunmetal and rose gold colours, for your kitchen. You can find these in the under-mount section of our washbasins page.
Express your style by choosing a stylish yet high-quality and durable basin for your wash closet. If you didn't know, all our bathroom basins have an extended lifetime warranty offered exclusively by WHO Bathroom Warehouse. Enjoy!
